Help us raise the American and California flags each morning of the Fair at our opening ceremony. San Diego County Scout troops that have patch-earning capabilities may apply to do this, and after the ceremony, enjoy the day at the Fair!
Fair Postponement Info
2020 applicants will be contacted by our Special Events Department to arrange participation in this program for 2021.
New applications will be accepted beginning January 2021.
Scout troops help to raise the American and California flags at the O’Brien Gate (main gate) during the daily opening ceremony. Troops are expected to arrive at the Fairgrounds by 10:00am. The ceremony starts about a half hour after that, and the gates open to the public at 11:00am, a half hour after the ceremony.
Often, there are multiple troops participating in the same ceremony, but all groups will be a part of the ceremony.
No cost, in fact, we invite the troop members to stay and enjoy the Fair. We issue one credential per child, and provide parking passes for most, but not all, of the group. Please see the General Information document for details.
