Media Credentials

Please read all of this information before submitting a press credentials request.

Requesting Fair Media Credentials

June 8–July 4, 2022

  • In order to coordinate access for working media, the Marketing and Media Office requires that all media members submit an online Media Credential Request Form at least 48 hours before their planned arrival.

  • Media access is only granted to broadcast, print and online media on assignment. Freelance reporters/photographers/bloggers must provide the following documentation before access will be considered:

    • Valid press photo identification
    • Proof of assignment from a news organization (on letterhead or from the news organization’s email address) from a news director, editor or similar authority
  • Submission of a request does not guarantee press/media access. It is at the discretion of the Marketing and Media Office to determine if press credentials will be issued.

  • Press credentials only grant general access; areas that are not open to general admission requires a separate credential request.

  • If your visit is approved, we request you follow-up with a link to your story/coverage.

Request Credentials

Who qualifies for media credentials?

Access is given to “working media” covering the event for news and entertainment purposes; specifically journalists, reporters, editors, videographers and photographers who are working for an actual news media outlet.

  • Broadcast media: On-air reporters (anchors/DJs/reporters) and videographers/photographers.

  • Print media: Reporters, photographers and editors.

  • Freelance media: Press credentials are provided to freelance writers and producers with written confirmation from the assigning news outlet, on company letterhead or from the media outlet’s email address.

  • Bloggers/Social Media Influencers: Due to the large volume of requests received, credential requests from bloggers and social media influencers will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Proof of reach/following must be provided, and accounts will be evaluated based on the nature of the content and the demographic coverage.

The Del Mar Fairgrounds reserves the right to update this policy at any time.

I’ve been approved, now what?

  • You’ll receive parking information via email prior to your visit. Your pass can be picked up at the Will Call window located at the O’Brien Gate (front entrance). Photo identification is required.
  • Admission is only valid for the individual who is approved for access by the Marketing and Media Office. Press access used for purposes other than to conduct work at the San Diego County Fair will be revoked. This includes anyone who is not authorized to use media credentials.
  • The San Diego County Fair reserves the right to revoke approved access at any time.
  • A link to coverage of the Fair resulting from your credential may be requested.
