Landscape Displays and Container Gardens

Show off your green thumb and win cash awards, special recognition and ribbons in the Paul Ecke Jr. Garden Show competitive exhibit at the San Diego County Fair.

This exhibit has divisions for professionals, amateurs, garden clubs and students. Competition includes landscape displays and container gardens.

The Garden Show exhibit is open to California residents, aged 9 and older, who are professional, amateur or novice gardeners and landscapers.

Entry fees vary; please see the appropriate Entry Information brochure for details. Entry fees are non-refundable, however in the event of competition cancellation, entry fees will be applied to the following year or refunded.

Entry limits vary; see the appropriate Entry Information brochure for details. In some divisions, such as landscape exhibits, available space limits the entries.

The Garden Show has some student divisions and classes for ages 9-19. Kids and teens also can enter garden projects in Creative Youth.

We look forward to seeing you in the 2021 competition, where we will continue our “Heroes Unite!” Fair theme. Use these 2020 entry materials as your guide—we plan on using the same divisions and classes.

Entry Information

Entry deadline (Landscape Gardens): Friday, April 17, 2020.
Entry deadline (Container Gardens): Friday, May 8, 2020.
Landscape Gardens set-up: Saturday, May 16, to Sunday, May 31, 2020.
Container Gardens delivery dates: Friday, May 29, and Saturday, May 30, 2020.
Exhibit dates: June 5-July 5, 2020.

Bonsai and tray landscapes entry information has been moved to the Flower Show – Blooms exhibit.
